Update on continuing police action in Forth and Inverleith areas since 1 December:
– 36 people arrested/fine paid in relation to 49 warrants issued by the courts, many for crimes of violence (including domestic violence), drugs and dishonesty
– 10 offenders charged in regard to hate crime
– 3 charged in relation to 2 reports of fireraising – including fire at St Paul’s Church
– 35 domestic crimes solved and support provided to victims
– 9 stolen motor vehicles recovered in Forth area and returned to owners
– 2 charged in connection with suspected stolen motorcycles driven in area
– 5 suspected drink/drug drivers reported
– Persons reported in relation to 16 break ins and attempted break ins to homes, sheds and garages in the area
Inspector David Happs said: “We will not tolerate any crime in North Edinburgh and are actively working to tackle anti-social behaviour in the area. We are active partners in the#StrongerNorth initiative and we support Edinburgh Council’s overarching goals for the neighbourhood.
“We understand that people in the local community are frustrated by the actions of the few. We are continuing to tackle this unacceptable behaviour as a priority and we will work with our partner agencies to improve the North Edinburgh area for all who work and live there.”
