Spartans picked up all three points when they made the trip to the Scottish Borders tonight to face Lowland League club Hawick Royal Albert.
The home side find themselves rooted at the foot of the league and look almost certain go be relegated at the end of the season.
Dougie Samuels men took the lead in the opening minutes when Willie Bremner was left unmarked at the back post and as the ball was crossed in he slotted the ball into the net.
Guillermo Lamarca had a golden chance to double Spartans lead when he got on the end of a cross but his weak header was gathered by the keeper.
Lamarca almost scored after some great play by Blair Atkinson who played him at the near post but Craig Saunders pulled off a terrific save.
Hawick’s only real chance of the first half came when David McCaughie unleashed a stinger from thirty yards but Blair Carswell in the Spartans goal was equal to it and tipped it over the bar.
After the interval Spartans started brightly and their pressure was rewarded when Blair Tolmie picked up the ball on the edge of the box and his strike crashed of the underside of the bar before finding the net.
The home sides hopes of getting anything from the game were dashed when they were reduced to ten men when John Tully was shown his second yellow card in the closing stages of the game.
