Spartans picked up all three points in the first all-Edinburgh game of the SWPL1 season at Ainslie Park on Sunday.
Debbi McCulloch’s squad came from behind to win 2-1.
Becky Galbraith caused the Hearts defence problems and almost headed Spartans in front when she headed just wide of the target from an Alana Marshall corner.
Last week’s Hearts hat-trick hero Georgia Timms had two superb chances just before half-time but fired over the bar on both occasions.
Hearts took the lead on the hour mark when Aimee Anderson’s strike from the edge of the box curled into the net to give the visitors the lead.
Their lead was short-lived and Galbraith popped up at the back post to head the ball beyond the keeper and into the net just five minutes later.
Just as it looked like it would end level a ball whipped into the Hearts box hit the defender and trundled over the line to give the home side all three points.
The game looked like it would play out as a draw until another wicked Marshall delivery deceived Hearts goalie
After the game Galbraith said: “The league has gone to a higher intensity and maybe we were a bit naive last week, and today we knew we had to start the game at fifth gear and move higher.
“Debbi told us we had to be comfortable being uncomfortable, and it was uncomfortable today. We dealt with that spell, got back into the game and managed the game really well in the last ten minutes.”
