South Queensferry Coastguard rescue 5 casualties in the dark at Cramond Island
They posted on their Facebook page
Paged to Cramond Island for persons stranded by tide. A call was received via Police Scotland from someone concerned for 3 friends stranded on the island (since cut-off at 2:30pm) and having lost contact with them. MRCC Aberdeen attempted to contact the casualties via mobile, but with no response it was decided to page RNLI Queensferry Lifeboat and South Queensferry Coastguard to check on their safety and that they had not been in the water.
The ILB managed to locate the casualties (plus two others) who were fortunately safe and well, and with the tide falling the causeway quickly cleared and they made their own way ashore. The three members of the Coastguard shore team walked out as the tide fell and met them to ensure they all got back along the causeway safely in the dark. It’s not often we’re paged to Cramond on a falling tide, but we’re happy that we found everyone was okay.
