Rescue crews dispatched to Cramond Island after group ‘cut off by the tide’

The South Queensferry lifeboat crew and Coastguard teams were dispatched after a group of people became cut off by the tide at Cramond Island yesterday.

It was the RNLI Queensferry Lifeboat teams first shout of 2025.

The group were taken by the crew to safety of the Coastguard team.

RNLI Queensferry Lifeboat posted to Facebook: “Launching to our first shout of 2025.

“At 3.10pm our team was tasked to 3 people cut off by the tide on Cramond Island. The casualties were taken to Cramond Village to be left in the care of the South Queensferry Coastguard Team.

“If planning a visit to Cramond Island, we advise you to check the safe crossing times which can be found on our website, by texting CRAMOND to 84100 and on signage at the beginning of the causeway.

“If you find yourself in difficulty, or you spot anyone else in danger, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
