Two local women’s football teams are in league action later today.
Spartans women are on the road to face league leaders Celtic at K-Park and Hibs welcome Rangers to Ainslie Park.
Despite losing their first two SWPL 1 fixture Spartans gaffer, Debbi McCulloch, is sure her squad have the quality needed to have a successful season.
She said “We’ve had a pretty tough start to the league campaign but everyone has got to play everyone so how they fall really doesn’t matter.
“I’d much rather we go into these big matches earlier on as we’re much fresher. We’re under no illusions that the challenges we face this season will be testing.
“I think we’ve gone toe to toe with both Hibs and Rangers and, on both occasions, were unfortunate not to come away with anything.
“It’s frustrating but it hasn’t been disappointing. There is a really positive mindset within the squad.
“We can take confidence going into this weekend – we just need to put the ball in the back of the net when our chances come along.”
Elsewhere, bottom-of the-table Hearts will be looking to atone for last week’s 10-0 thrashing by Celtic when they travel to Forfar.
