Local DJ Jim Henderson has handed over £900 to a local food bank after raising cash by holding two ‘Live Aid’ events during lockdown.
Jim, known as DJ Edinburgh, organised two events at Melville Castle and Houston House Hotel that were broadcast live on his Faceboook page.
Jim, who lives in Drylaw made the donation to the Rainbow Club food bank who operate out of Drylaw Church yesterday.
The popular DJ and toast master was overwhelmed with the response to his appeal and said that he wanted to help people in his community.
He said “For me it was important to help local people here in my own area.
“I know that have been thousands of people affected by the pandemic and I really just wanted to help.
“When I spoke to a few local singers they were only more than happy to help out so it all worked really well.
“I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the events and ultimately help raising this money.”
Throughout lockdown Jim has been busy entertaining his neighbours and thousands of people online with a range of events including music quizzes, bingo nights and even a VE Day street party.
