Leith Athletic were crowned Central Taxis League Cup winners with a 2-0 win over local rivals Spartans.
John Ferguson showed great skill when he held the ball up on the edge of the box before turning and drilling a low shot low into the corner of the net.
Keith Murray almost doubled Leith’s lead when he broke into the box and his curling shot was well save by Blair Carswell at full stretch.
Just before the halftime interval Leith were awarded a penalty kick after Keith Murray was tripped in the box.
Grant Burns stepped up and smashed the ball into the net.
Kyle Boggie came close to pulling Spartans one back, the former Leith striker’s free kick from 30 yards went just over the bar.
Lucasz Ruisin went on a tricky run down the wing beating the Leith defence he squared the ball into the box but Boggie couldn’t connect.
Spartans youngster Matty Cunningham was next up to try and find a breakthrough, he went through one-on-one with Iain Gordon but the experienced keeper managed to get a touch on the shot before it went out for a corner.
Cunningham and Boggie both had chances to score in the closing stages but couldn’t capitalise.
