Dragon Boat race raises over £20,000 for St Columba’s Hospice Care

Last weeks dragon boat raced more than £20,000 to support St Columba’s Hospice Care.

The race, a thrilling waterborne spectacle, saw over 100 participants from various organisation’s, including Forth Ports, Adobe and BlackRock, NVT & Thorntons Legal competing fiercely for the coveted title.

Fort Ports’ team ultimately emerged as the victors of the competition, showing a confidence and prowess on the water that befitted one of the UKs largest port operators.

The funds raised at the event will play a crucial role in supporting the invaluable work carried out by St Columba’s Hospice Care, providing essential care and comfort to those facing life-limiting illnesses and their families.

St Columba’s Hospice Care Corporate Manager Amanda Southey said “This event was a fantastic success, and it was superb to see everyone pulling together to not only create a great atmosphere, but to support the Hospice.

“We’d like to thank every one of the teams for their participation, and their ongoing fundraising, we look forward to sharing a final total from the event in the coming weeks. We’d also like to thank Forth Ports for their sponsorship of the event, and of course congratulate them on their win!” 

St Columba’s Hospice Care has been at the forefront of palliative care, providing compassionate and specialized support to individuals and families during their most challenging times.

St Columba’s Hospice Care is dependent on the continues support of its community, requiring to raise around 70% of their running costs each year, with the rest coming from NHS funding.

The funds raised from the Dragon Boat Race will go a long way in ensuring that this vital work continues to touch the lives of those who need it most. Care from the Hospice is free at the point of need.
